I would like to make a trip down just to see the
territory. Our latest area of interest to move to is Oregon. A
teacher friend of mine just bought a home on the coast. He will retire
next year and he is anxious to move down there. He's been down most
weekends and he loves it. I have been talking to Brian of Sportees' fame
and he has relatives who live in Salem and they love it. He is going to
move down when they retire. Who is the teacher that left Redmond Jr. Hi
?? I got called on a vacancy today. Jere

Subject: Deschutes and Mckenzie
Fished the Deschutes and Mckenzie rivers in
Oregon this week. The fishing was good on both rivers, but I enjoyed
nymphing the Deschutes (near Maupin) best because it reminds me more of
classic trout water. San Juan worms and #18 hares ears did the trick on
both rivers. There was a little sporadic Baetis activity on the
Deschutes and I was able to fool a couple trout on a 18 parachute adams.
No dry fly action on the Mckenzie, but rumor has it that a hell of a March
Brown hatch is waiting just down the pike. Good luck and go give it a
try. Jeff Hale
