Well I finally made it out to Coffeepot Lake on this incredible, sunny day.
It was my first time there and I must say that it is a pretty lake. The fish
seem to come in two sizes there. Small and XXL. I landed several 10 inchers
but had one snap my fly off on the hit, one run me into my backing and then
lose me down in the sticks on the bottom and my friend fought a monster for
over 10 minutes that she couldn't get to come to the surface. The hook
finally pulled loose. We never did see that fish.

I have caught a lot of large trout in lakes but the fish in here schooled me
today. I am looking forward to the rematch. If you happen to go, I noticed
a few damsel fly nymphs starting to work and there were tons of midges on the
water. All of our action came off of woolly buggers though.

On the way home we decided to hit Crab Creek. The water was still quite high
but it was clear. I got one to look at a dry and my friend took 1 on a
Yellow Humpy and had two other strikes. I hooked and lost a beauty on a
beadhead nymph after he started to run downstream and towards a brushpile. I
had him on for a few minutes but fished myself into a corner so to speak and
couldn't pursue the fish downstream and around the corner. (Catching a big
fish in a small stream is really a lot fun not to mention challenging!)

I am sunburnt, wore out and happy as hell. Now if I could just get paid to
have fun like this.
