Bill Hamilton introduced me to a wonderful product for this purpose: a
fairly thin, highly flexible, open weave (and therefore porous) medical
tape that sticks without adhesives and provides a good grip on the fly
line. Comes in various widths and colors. The stuff Bill gave me was 1"
which seems to work well (covers the affected area, but still doesn't bind
up the finger joints). Problem is I can't remember the name of the stuff.
Flex wrap, or something like that comes to mind. Bill - are you out
there? What the heck is the name of this miracle tape?

Only caveat is that I've only found it available mail order and there's a 6
roll minimum order and a roll lasts a long time. Not terribly expensive
($3-4/roll as I recall), but I don't want to have half a box of the stuff
sitting around for the next ten years collecting dust. I keep hoping one
of the saltwater savvy fly shops will start stocking it, but haven't seen
any around yet.

If Bill can refresh my memory maybe we can put together a group order,
or even hound one of the shops into carrying it.
