I use good old athletic tape. They make it in various widths, some of which
is known as "finger tape" and that is what I use. It is probably no more
than 1/2" in width. I carry a roll in my vest.

For the last few years I have been using good 'ol duct tape. I keep a roll
in the car and use 1/2 of the diameter (it tears easily up the middle). I
use just enough around the finger to overlap a bit. You need to experiment
with the tightness, but as you can imagine, it doesn't come off. . . not
even when you want it too. And one roll lasts a long long long time.
