I was just up in Winthrop last weekend. I fished the Chewuch River north of
Winthrop. Its selective gear rules and catch and release. I fished it for
about 3 hours and landed several rainbow trout largely in the 9 in. range,
and one nice trout around 14 or 15 in. The river is easily waded but access
is tough since much of the surrounding land is private. If you drive north
along the river up around Eight Mile Creek the road is right next to the
river. You can then wade up or down. I waded down river for about a mile
and then climbed a steep bank to get back to the road. Beautiful scenery.
