Mike,
The guy that built my 10-1/2' 7 weight rod did exactly that with his home
PC and a small clear label printed with his name. It looks great and has not
discolored in the sun up till now, although without some sort of UV
protection your label will discolor over time. There is label stock
available with UV coatings but you really have to look for them. I recommend
calling a label manufacturer in the yellow pages, there are quite a few in
Western Washington.
