Took the morning off and fished the Stilly today. The river is about as
low as I have ever seen it but there are a lot of fish around. Almost
too many fish. Only caught one but he was a nice 15lb+ chum in good
shape. He took(inhaled) a black starlite leech and it took almost 20
minutes to land him on my 6wt. By far my biggest fish ever on a fly. It
was also freezing out. The whole time I was fighting him I was having to
break ice out of my guides every couple minutes so the line wouldn't get
stuck. Very tricky when you have a fish that size on. Any suggestions on
how to combat this cause it is a pain in the...

The hole I usually fish is so crowded with fish that you have to be
extra careful not to snag any. Didn't see any steelhead though. Just a
lot of chum and coho. Will probably head out again this weekend and do
some hiking to try and locate some steelhead cause those chum are
wearing the backs of my knuckles thin....
