Fished the Deschutes near Maupin for two days. Managed to nymph up a
some nice redsides on San Juan Worms, stonefly nymphs, soft hackles,
hare's ears, flashback PT's, and lightening bugs. Also had a steelhead
of about 10-12 pounds take my stone nymph, drag me 100 yards downstream,
scream off a ton of line, and finally got pissed off enough to head
shake and snap the 4X tippet I was using.
Rocky Ford was generous as usual. My brother and I caught
approximately 20 fish in two days of fishing. Not red hot, but pretty
good action. We had several fish over 20 inches. Scuds, leeches, glo
bugs, buggers, and chironomids all took fish. Fished during the week so
crowds were minimal. Jeff Hale
