It's not the cost so much as having the thing mounted on my car that bugs
me. I pay about $45/winter for a Sno-Park permit with groomed trail sticker
and don't complain about that. I buy a Forest Service parking pass at
$15/year which convieniently hangs from the rear-view mirror. I also buy a
Mt. Rainier yearly pass, etc... I don't mind paying to park, I just don't
want the ugly sticker pasted to my car. I'd pay even more than $5 for the
DFW sticker w/o complaint but I'd rather it be something that was removable.

Subject: yellow vehicle stickers

I'm amazed and somewhat amused at the objections that so many people seem to
have to the stewardship stickers and, even moreso, the resistance to paying
an extra five bucks per extra vehicle. These stickers are your ticket to the
use of areas owned and maintained by the WDFW. All persons using these
areas, be they birdwatchers, hikers, boaters, or any other sort of
recreational users, are required to purchase and display this sticker if
they are using WDFW boat launches, access areas, etc., and the money helps
to defray the costs of maintenance.
