I prefer to fish MOVING water and the faster the better, which comes with
extreme changes. On the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows, the outgoing tide
runs tighter against the beaches than the incoming tide, which is why I
like these big ebbtides at the Narrows. On the other hand, there is another
beach I fish for searuns where an extreme ebbing tide leaves a huge
expansive sand bar exposed at minus tides. When the tide changes and
floods, the searuns swarm into the flats like bonefish.
Remember these fish are always moving (not holding like river fish) in
water that is always moving, dropping, flooding and changing directions.
Predatory fish use the running tides to trap their prey against structure
etc.
In the end, I don't care if it's going out or coming in as long as it's moving.
Leland.
