Hello group,

I was out in the North Sound Sunday morning fishing for sea run cutts. I
arrived on scene at around 6:45 AM the wind was calm and the water was
glassy. I watched the water for a bit for clues as to where the fish might
be. The tide was just starting to switch from low to high tide so I was not
expecting to see much of anything. After about 5 to 10 mins I did see some
bait fish jumping out of the water and figured this would be as good a place
as any to start fishing. I fished the first spot for about 30 mins without
any strikes so I moved down the beach about 100 yds and tried my luck there.
I finally got a strike after about an hour in the new spot, but it was
only a bullhead. This was encouraging though so I continued fishing with a
little more enthusiasm. The tide was starting to run faster now and the
activity around me was picking up also. At about this time I was joined on
the beach by a couple of other fly fishermen. We exchanged courtesies, and
they entered the water about where I first started to fish. I had a couple
of more rises around me but could not get them to strike. I got out of the
water at around 9 AM because the sun was on all of the water and the
activity had quit.

It was a nice morning, and even though I only caught a bullhead it was
encouraging enough for me on my first try at salt water fishing to plan
another trip in the near future.
