Nice Tom, I like the report style.  It's a nice break from the technical.  Thanks.

Subject: Saltwater report

"How come you didn't name your boat after ME" my wife asks one day out of the blue. It must have been a full moon cause this one made me wonder where the heck THIS came from.... "I did" I truthfully confessed....  I documented the boat as the Whats-her-name.
The other morning was picture perfect at first light. As we sped across the salt, my mind  played with the reflections off the water and I decided that its a good thing we have gravity cuz I wouldn't be able to tell which end was up. Approaching our first drift, I cut the motor early and drifted another 50 feet before quietly deploying the anchor. In 3 casts we had our first salmon. In 20 minutes we had one in the cooler, one long line release and a sea-run that took us for a ride.
Folks on the beach were doing pretty good too and we saw a few drug on shore and boot released. At times that day we laughed so hard at the fish and ourselves that we couldn't have heard a train go by, other times it was so quiet a big boy fish would jump so close to the boat it would startle us into such a fit of buck fever, that a tangled mess of line and limbs made for a 10 minute safe passage of any waiting period fish. We fished shallow and close to the bank early, and over the shallows that reached way off shore  in the afternoon. We could see pods of fish swim by and could watch as one would peel out and follow the fly.
Most of the fish lately have been males....the girls are always late. Bigger fish to come as the runs build. I kinda been thinking the girls will show up after the full moon. Pay attention out there and let me know what you think. We moved and re-anchored a bunch....rowed the shore when we thought it necessary and did well most of the day. Motoring back we could feel our sun warmed cheeks, our tired arms and took time to breath in the beauty of the Sound. Nothing like a good day on the water to remind us of what's really precious in our lives. For me its gotta be  October.

Ramblings from the Whats-her-Name
