Lurkers--"50 subscribers post to the list on a "regular" basis" Some
folks say a lot of stuff about everything others say very few words
about perhaps just one thing--all too often I find that when the quiet
person speaks--you gain the most and the truely valuable information by
listening. Regular isn't necessarily good or bad!

Fly shops and their employees are some of the best sources of
information and more often than not pass out far more and higher quality
info than is received --- if we are trying to help the new, the
uninitiated, etc - - then it seems to be a good thing to get the info
out to not only these folks but to shops, etc, esp if they are on this
list. -- I guess in the end you have to ask--do I want the list to grow
and flourish and expand or condense itself into a small vocal group who
all comment to each other and protects their archives---geeeeesh! My
vote is for "The more the merrier" and let the good times roll!

Fly Anglers are often individualists!! I know a few who dry fly fish
only and at least one who dry fly fishes with only flies smaller than
size 16. I know of a bunch who fly fish for trout only (and that doesn't
include salmon) I know one who fly fishes Amber lake only and the neat
thing is--these folks are all fly anglers. If all of these folks were on
this list for instance, thye might scan the posts each evening and
discard, etc--then one evening, the subject comes up about fishing Amber
lake and it is "their" interest area--and they respond with the true
"skinny" about fishing Amber, or salt, or trout, or what ever that rare
subject might be. It's then the list and all it's subscribers is worth
it's weight in gold (gold ribbed hair's ears that is)

Call them lurkers if you will, I call them a valuable resource waiting
to happen--here's to you "lurkers," to those of you who post a few times
a year and to those of you who post all the time--may your lines get
wet, your leaders get stretched, your hackle slimed and your rod
bowed--framing this experience called fly fishing!
