It was funny we were on the G. R., from late Sept. till 18 of Oct. and there
were fish the entire time. Lots of Steelhead early on and after the first
push of water the fish moved with fly blinders on. Now the fish are being
caught in double diget numbers at the confluence of the Wallawa and the
Ronde. (Rondowa area). Maybe trying different tactics besides swinging tips
and purple bugs through the buckets , try nynphing a smaller rubber leg in
those rocky,chopy,faster water. Just a thought. The Rondowa is tough access.
I would go from the border of WA to Bogans and fish this area. Best of luck
