Very valid points Jeff.
I personally observed salvage efforts on two boats which went into jams the day before I floated the upper Sauk stretch a couple years ago. Good news . . .nobody was killed. Bad news . . .one guy lost his thumb and index finger between the gunnel and a log. I have also picked up sopping wet people who turned over a metal boat on the middle stretch.
Some additional information: The Sauk/Skagit confluence has shifted to the west (downstream) in a new channel. It was completely blocked off by a jam. Late last week a friend reported that some guys were going in there with chain saws to clear a passage.
This was before this last gully washer we had, so things may be changed yet again.
