I would be very careful floating the Sultan river, especially in a hard
bottom boat. It doesn't look that dangerous but there are some tricky
boulder gardens and at least one corner that will eat you if you miss a
stroke. A friend of mine salvaged a big guide model Willie boat out of
there a few years ago. I've read in the newspaper of several incidents of
people being rescued after boating accidents on this river.
After a big high water like we just had, I would be careful floating
anything. I cruised around the upper Stilly this morning and there is a
lot of timber in places it wasn't before. The head of the Hazel hole by
the road looked like it changed quite a bit too.
