Two years ago while fishing Amber I was into real fast fishing, even for me.
There was a huge hatch of midges and they would hit any midge pattern all
day long. There were two types of fish; the darker 17 inch fish that were
heavy and the smaller, brigher 15 inch fish that were much more fun to catch
because they spent most of their time in the air. On one particular slow
takedown, I noticed the fight was quite different. After bringing the
critter to the net, I scooped up a turtle, hooked right in the upper jaw. I
was a little apprehensive because the only thing I knew about turtles was
written by Chuck Berry in a song about snapping turtles in a creek that he
was swimming. Luckily the barbless hook fell right out and he slowly swam
off.
