I don't think he philosophically has an issue with it; more he was pointing out that personal point of perception, per the discussion of this thread, of what is or isn't fly fishing.

I bought some dumbbell eyes at a local tackle shop, to tie some clousers, and the shop proprietor gave me grief about tying "jigs".  Of course, I weakly defended myself, but hey, clousers really aren't too much different than jigs.
 
However, I will continue to use 'em and love 'em.
