I'd like to frame this question a little differently.

You finally decided to plunk down the cash for that
nice steelhead wand you've had your eye on. If you
had your choice of paying $500 with a full,
unconditional lifetime warranty, or $350 with the
standard manufacturer's defect warranty, which would
you choose?

I've always found this marketing technique in this
industry a little curious. Charge for 2 rods up front
and hope the customer only needs one. If he needs the
other one, what the heck, it's already paid for.

Personally, I like the Loomis system. Pay for one rod
with the standard warranty plus insurance with a $45
deductible. I have 3 Loomis rods. Broke one in a
car-door-type mishap. Paid my stupid fee to have it
replaced. Had a new rod in a week. Now being more
careful.
