There are a lot of little tricks to pick up, buy AK Best’s “Production Fly Tying”.  There are a lot of good tricks in there…  One little trick is learn to tie with your scissors on the ring finger of your left hand, the less tools you have to pick up and set down will trim your total time off of a dozen flies…

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.  May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Subject: fly tying

I am hoping to get advice on how to speed up my fly tying.  I have been tying my own flies for about four years.  I recently began tying for a couple of friends and noticed how long it takes me to get through a dozen.  Does anyone have basic suggestions or tips?

Thanks,

Brian
