Although last year was when I really received the gift, this year is when I finally got it put together.  Last year my fiance had her dad build me a shadow box to commemorate my grandfather.  He gave me, shortly before he died a 1954 Hardy Palakona bamboo rod.  I had the rod restore before he died.  He was disgusted with me, at first.  He said the rod was in great condition.  Not so much.  It looks great now.  I got the box done and the rod now hangs close to my front door for everyone to see.  There are many other things in the box, including a leather wallet made by his brother some 50+ years ago that had a fly fishing scene carved into it.  Last Christmas the gift of the shadow box almost made me cry.  This year, it makes me feel great!
