I find it entirely depends on which support person you strike at the time. Some are very knowledgeable indeed, about OS X in particular. If the support person you happen to get has no clue, ask for someone who does.

Iinet explicitly supports OS X for their new broadband product, so you have a right to request (demand?) appropriate support.
