A bit off track from the other two replies... you may want to know that the Canon OSX drivers are in a word... crap. Canon still ship them as a Photoshop plug-in rather than as a system service. This means you need Photoshop, Elements or GraphicConverter to make the drivers work.
Epson on the other hand seem to have their head screwed on correctly. Their drivers are system wide, which means they work in any OSX application that supports the ImageCapture services.
