Well said Yvonne !
To add to this .... Please remember that the most knowledgeable posters
are most likely PROFESSIONALS
who are donating their time to the list .
They do not have to do it .............. and a thank you would be a
minimum
contribution in return.
Alsol ... a short mail to the list listing the successful suggestion
expands
the knowledge of the list members .
There is nothing worse than taking the trouble to respond and THEN
never hearing
what the end result was.
Happy New Year everyone !

Hi folks
my little bit. When I first found this list I was amazed, wow, so many
people know so much though things started to become quite
clear....... most of the replies came from the same group of people. I
thought I would be terrified to post a question till one day tearing
my hair out I bit the bullet and posted. The response surprised me,
the same with my next question..... I learned that there are people
who reply publicly and others who will send a private reply and some
who wont send anything which I assumed was not because they didn't
want to help but that they didn't have the answer. I watched one
question for a couple of days, all the knowledgeable ones [in my mind]
were sending suggestions right left and centre, so many technical
replies but not solving the problem. I didn't have the nerve to post
my suggestion publicly, not because of fear or anyone laughing at me,
just that I didn't have their knowledge but hey I was wrong..... I had
the answer
Since then I have posted a few requests for help and had mixed
responses, the last not even drawing any suggestion from Shay who
believe me I was in awe of at first.
Anyway the point of my reply...... we are none of us stupid, we do own
Macs after all, and if we try everything we can think of before
posting for help...... well heck we could well have covered everything
others might suggest already
If an effort was made by all to at least acknowledge postings I think
more people would feel welcome on this list and contribute more.
Please no, this would not help, I cannot think of anything more
frustrating when I have a problem than to be bombarded with replies
saying 'sorry to hear you have a problem but I have nothing to offer'.
Lets just share what we can when we can and accept that sometimes we
all know as much about something as everyone else and might not get
any replies.
Happy New year to all..... thanks for the help you've given me in 2004
Yvonne
