Hi Stuart, Well, if you want to put something sent in private on the list, then so be it!
<http://www.applebits.net/~applebit/cgi-bin/cart.cgi/scan/st=db/co=yes/sf=ca tegory/se=PowerBook%20-%20G4/op=eq.html> Powerbook G4 500 $1190 Powerbook G4 400 $990 (And these guys are considered at the high end of the s/h market) <http://forums.appletalk.com.au/index.php?showtopic=4557> A much higher spec'ed iBook. Plus another $200 for a replacement Power adapter (which you cannot buy new retail from Apple any longer). You give no mention on battery life - a 5 year old Pismo will probably have maybe an hour life on average (if it has had a good life), maybe 2 hour if it has been carefully looked after. 10 minutes if poorly looked after (then add another $220 for a Newertech battery, $300 for an Apple battery). My advice to you Stuart would be to post your machine specs at Appletalk.com.au's Price Check Forum, and see what others think you should get for your machine. Maybe $400 is a little low (not in my opinion though), but $1200 is a joke. I have worked long enough in AppleCentres and with the WAMUG community to know how much each machine is *roughly* worth that has been produced in the last 10 years at Apple. If you don't agree with my judgment, fine. But I don't appreciate a personal email being broadcast on the list, implying I do not know what I am talking about. Again, good luck with your sale and your move to Melbourne.
