I have a Fujifilm Finepix S7000, which you can get in your price range
now if you shop around. SLR with fixed lens - tele and wide angle
add-ons available. 6.2 megapixels, 12 in "Raw" format. Full auto or
manual. We've taken a lot of great pics with it. Definitely Mac
friendly.
