actually I'd definitely go the other way and say having tried both
cameras with NiMH's in consumer battery sizes are best they store a
little better than Li-Ions have longer total life and you can buy a
few spare sets of batteries for cheap as chips at places like
Altronics and The Battery Shop and if you don't get a chance to
charge your batteries or you cut sick on the local scenic shots (or
use the flash a lot) then buying a couple of sets of cornershop
Alkalines AA's will get you through the rest of the day.....
When I pick up my 350D in a few weeks I'll get the battery back for
it which will take 2x Canons Li-Ion batteries and also take 6xAA
NiMH to give me the best of both worlds.
One extra bit of advice on choosing a digital camera - check what sort of
battery it has. Lithium-Ion seems to be the best. This was a factor in my
choice of Pentax, Many popular brands seem to have lesser types.
Kind regards, Paul.
