what's the best flavor of Linux to run on a Mac?
I think it is what do I want to run on said machine is more the
question, then search for relevant Distro. If running OS X what is
wrong with what is offered, but it sounds like you want it to be
totally linux. So, Gentoo have branches for PPC and OSX builds??,
Debian my distro of choice for servers and Ubuntu its sibling very
good reports for desktop. Then of course one cannot go past Yellow
Dog, from PC experience Gentoo will give you be most stable and speed
for Linux be warned heavy install lots of reading and compiling.
Yellow Dog is Mac specific so one would assume it is the bees knees
not sure myself I have not used it, Ubuntu is getting very good
feedback.
Shortly I will be picking up a 12" 500Mhz G3 iBook (thanks Allan)
and while its purchase is mainly for OS/backpacker type travel use
(so I don't have to worry about my 1G PowerBook or [soon to arrive]
1.3Ghz iBook getting damaged/stolen etc) I plan to use on the day
to day basis as a sandbox machine including Linux stuff.
