iMac G5

I am seriously considering buying a new super drive iMac G5 17". 
However it is disconcerting to read so many reports of the original 
iMacs G5 being effected by faulty midplanes and power supplies. Does 
anybody know whether these defects have been rectified in the latest 
machines?
