default pdf opening

Hi Muggers

I have updated to 10.4.2 successfully. I have had a few odd things  
happen and Im not sure how to rectify these. Occassionally mail will  
just quit. It has never done this before while I have been using 10.3.8

Also any pdfs that I download automatically are opened in Preview. I  
dont know how to change the default opening to Acrobat. Can someone  
please advise on this?
