Hi Pete and Mike

Many thanks for the clue for opening pdf's (and I guess any other type of file). Its done

Not sure about the mail crashes as I only use a one button mouse. From one of my previous queries regarding the upgrade to 10.4.2, I did an archive and install on the particular drive Im using. Do you think I would be better off backing all up and doing a clean install after erasing my disk? I can use the migrate feature from my other internal drive.

Have you any idea when 10.4.3 is out Pete?

I appreciate your help

kind regards

chris

Hi Muggers

I have updated to 10.4.2 successfully. I have had a few odd things happen and Im not sure how to rectify these. Occassionally mail will just quit. It has never done this before while I have been using 10.3.8

No problems with Mail here, although one minor irritation for me (and I've discovered it only recently, so I don't know if it's a 10.4.2 thing or something else) is that right-clicking on an icon in the Finder causes the Finder to crash. The Action button in the Window Header works OK, though, so I can live with it. I'm hoping 10.4.3 will fix it.

Also any pdfs that I download automatically are opened in Preview. I dont know how to change the default opening to Acrobat. Can someone please advise on this?

Select a PDF file (any PDF file). Go File > Get Info and click on the disclosure triangle next to "Open With:" in the Info window. Choose Acrobat Reader from the popup menu, and then click on the "Change All..." buttton. From now on, all PDF files will open on Acrobat Reader by default.
