Lloyd,

If you have Quicktime Pro, open WMA file with quicktime, then choose export from FILE menu.
It will save it as WAV.
iTunes should then be able to convert the WAV to MP3 or AIFF etc.

Otherwise if VLC can play the WMA file. VLC says that it can save anything it can read, and it gives a lot of options including mp3 and mp4. So, then it comes down to whether VLC can read your files.

Merv,

I have done as you suggested but when the file opens I get taken to the Media Player website and told to update. The latest version is v9 which I have. So I can't seem to progress. Apart from playing it I want to change it
to MP3. Does WMP do that?

Lloyd

Lloyd
Just clarifying. You have the suffix as .wma If the last letter is
an a and not a v try changing it to a v then ask Windows Media Player
to open it.

Lloyd,

If you have the Windows Media Player Application ,
then it should play the .wmv file for you !
I have WMV app version 9 and that is working ok on tiger 10 4 7

As a test the Windows media Player app came with a test file.

Try playing tthe test file to confirm your app works.

There is no need to get involved with Quicktime unless of course you want to
.

Hi James,

Do I need Quicktime Pro to do this?

I have Flip4Mac installed but any Audio buttons are greyed out. I thought Flip4Mac was free but I see they want $29 for it. I have no record of buying
it before. So perhaps my old version no longer works.

I downloaded the latest Trial version of Flip4Mac and installed it but still
Quicktime says it cannot play the MOVIE.

Lloyd

see for "flip for mac" thats a good replacement for win med player,
comes as plugin for quicktime James

Good morning everyone.

How can I convert music with .wma to a format that I can play on
iTunes. I
have Windows Media Player but can't make it work.
