Take a look at

If the creator of the .wma has used v10 then it might not be possible
for the Mac v9 to open it?
Can you get the person who supplied it to dumb it down a version?

Just clarifying. You have the suffix as .wma If the last letter is
an a and not a v try changing it to a v then ask Windows Media Player
to open it.

comes as plugin for quicktime James
