Hi all
I have just purchased a 'FIREWIRE & USB2.0' external drive case from
Digilife today. They said it has just come in, and retails for $49.00.
A nice clean design and well packaged, complete with smart leather
protector if required. No manufactures logo or info!. The extended title
states 'Aluminum construction, Excellent design'? So I guess this is
an American product?
In it I have installed my 10Gb 2.5 internal HD from my old defunct G4
PowerBook, hoping to use it as an external storage. Problem is, it is
not
visible on either my G5, iBook, or iMac? it has no LED indicator
light. What's more the computers freeze when I plug this cable in. Mouse
cursor is frozen, no key response. If I take it out, mouse moves
again. So there seems to be some conflict here.The blurb states it
runs on the
5v from the USB host, no power adapter came with it.
The product shipped (as the computer interface) with a standard
digital camera connector that splits into a dual USB connection at
the other
end. Why two? when there are no instructions.
All Macs running 10.4.8
Does anyone know this product? if so any experience with it at all?
If this is a 'crock of ....' then I will take it back on Tuesday.
