Thanks for everyones thoughts on the' invisible external HD'. Digilife replaced the case and cable saying it was indeed faulty. So all is well now, and it does need the dual USB cable (supplied), and does not need a Firewire connection. So for an
outlay of $49, for a compact case to take a 2.5 drive is pretty good.

Thanks again
Jon

I took it back to Digilife's Oxford St service centre. They are testing it....I await the outcome!

Any result with this Jon?

For all external firewire or USB cases I try to stick to some well- known and
trusted brands, as long as the hardrive inside is decent it should be
alright!

Thanks, David Moyle

Subject: Re: New ext HD not visible

Thanks Bob, yep, that's what it states 'FireWire & USB2.0', yet no FW
ports or cable! and no image via Disk Utility with both USB's plugs
connected.
It's not visible on any of my three machines. So it looks like I will
be taking it back on Tuesday.

Thanks again for everyones help.
Jon

Yes the 2.5 was the master from the old G4 Powerbook. No Firewire
shipped with the product, nor does it have any FW ports.

I have just purchased a 'FIREWIRE & USB2.0' external drive case
from Digilife today. They said it has just come in, and retails
for $49.00.

Hi Jon,

That's just a bit tricky !

At $49 I thought it should have been just USB or USB2 , but you
had expressly said
Firewire & USB2 .

I have just one other suggestion :

While it is connected use your Disk Utility to see if it is visible
there ! ?

Cheers

Bob
