I use a Brother 2040 for b&w. It is very cheap and I get about 8000 copies
to a refill which costs me $65 at cartridge world.

Someone said Officeworks was selling the 2040 for about $100 around
Christmas. I paid more .. About $150 I think.

I occasionally want colour and have an Epson inkjet - which seems to use ink
even if I don't use it! But it is reasonable. I find it cheaper and easier
to have someone else print my photos than use inkjet cartridges.
