Lloyd, your Brother is printing at less than a cent a page, and the
CLP-300 laser is apparently around 5c/page (B&W) and 10c/page
(colour) - allowing for 5% coverage. That is 4c a page saved (on
B&W) means about $20 for every ream of paper used.
Useful information everyone, thanks.

I use a Brother 2040 for b&w. It is very cheap and I get about 8000

Someone said Officeworks was selling the 2040 for about $100 around
Christmas. I paid more .. About $150 I think.
I occasionally want colour and have an Epson inkjet - which seems
to use ink
even if I don't use it! But it is reasonable. I find it cheaper and
easier
to have someone else print my photos than use inkjet cartridges.

Hi Wamug,
Our trusty inkjet printer has bitten the dust, so its time to play
the 'what printer should I get' game again.
What is the best way to go? Is it as simple as laser = higher up
front costs but lower running costs vs or inkjet = lower up front but
higher running costs?
I know volume is part of the equation - we might go through 2-3
inkjet cartridge replacements a year.
Does anyone have reasonable figures on the actual upfront and running
costs?
At the moment, I'm thinking laser is the go, noticed a Samsung
CLP-300 for $346. Is there a better laser option for Mac?
All thoughts/rants welcome.
Glenn.
