Hi Denise and other WAMUG'ers,

Just an addition to this thread, and by the way congratulations to Nick for
pointing out this solution.

I prefer to use a Card Reader when downloading photos from my cards - I use
SD cards and my card reader currently is a San Disk  capable of reading
cards of various formats. Before inserting my SD card in the reader, I
always make sure that the 'Write Protect' switch is turned 'ON' to protect
my photos. I can download the photos with the Write Protect on when using
the card reader and thus feel a bit more secure!!

It is only after having copied the photos to one of my hard-drive and
burning them successfully to a couple of CDs or DVDs that I delete the
photos from the card.

I use mostly Graphic Converter for my photo use, ie to download the photos
from the card reader and mostly to batch convert the photos from jpg to
tiff. I tend to keep all my photos in those two formats.
