Unless I missed something in that article, it didn't help at all. The question isn't whether OS X will support the processor, it is whether an install on a single processor machine can be swapped over to a dual processor machine.
I would like to think that Apple have a selection of kernels on the install disks and they select the appropriate one on install. Therefore you won't have SMP support on your existing install...so as I said, it will work, but you won't be able to use both processors. ...but I am no guru on these matters.
