Actually, I have found Primus is very Mac savvy and willing to help.

I have issues at work, ohh your on a Mac. That's probably why it's

Only iiNet actually have a dedicated Apple Mac support line which
is great,
when other ISP's finally get techies trained out of the narrow
minded mind
and train them in multiple platforms including some of the GUI *nix
versions
will we get support worthly of clapping..

Bob,
Thanks for your reply. He is connected through an ethernet ADSL
modem.
I would think that Amnet has changed something at their end and is
suggesting that it is a Mac thing?
It is not a biggy....just curious.

A mate has an eMac running 10.3.9 on broadband with a small outfit
named Amnet.
He rang this morning to tell me his internet connection had dropped
out. I suggested the usual things...disconnect everything for a
couple of minutes and restart and also pointed out where to find
'internet connect'.....nothing!
His ISP, Amnet, said that Macs have a problem with 'Location' in
network settings and told him to change the location to Amnet
rather than the previous 'Home'. It worked and he is now back on
line.
Are they telling porkies?

Hi Kev ,
We might need a bit more info than what has been given ! ?
Should we assume he is straight on an ADSL modem , or does he
connect into a Modem/Router ?
I was an arachnet customer , who have been bought out by Amnet .
I assume I am now connected through to Amnet servers !
I use a Modem/Router and my network settings in the Mac are set to
use DHCP
,
while the log in name and password are set in the Modem/router .
I have had no problems just like that , but earlier when connected to
Arachnet
the login name became a problem at the Telstra Wholesale
infrastructure ,
and had to be changed .
Don't know whether that has any relevance to your friends situation
