Hi Severin
The Skype contacts are stored on the Skype server, so all you need
to do is
setup the same account on the new laptop.
After a few seconds they will just appear. So you don't really need
to do
anything.
I've seen this work when I was showing a client on their new Mac
laptop
Skype. I logged in with my details and it just populated the list
for me. So
I would imagine it should be the same for Windows.
You can also copy the contacts from the following if the above
doesn't work.
A quick google search "how to transfer Skype contacts" gives the
following:-
<http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=how+to+transfer+skyp
e+contacts&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8>
First hit reveals:-
Q: How do I save my Skype contacts so I can reinstall or use them on
another machine ?
You can back up the following directory onto a floppy, CD, or Zip
drive for
use on other systems
Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data
\Skype" and
save the folder. Once you have installed again, copy what you saved
in the
same folder.
Hope that helps.
Kind Regards
Daniel

My son has a Skype problem. His work laptop is to be replaced with
an
updated model and he requires to bring over all his Skype contacts
and
his own identity. He has been through this before and has had to
setup a new identity and then reestablish all his contacts. On a Mac
he could use Migration Assistant and all would be fine, I think, but
this is under Windows. A further complication is that the company IT
gurus allow but do not support Skype.
I suspect that if he tries to set up Skype under his old name it will
be rejected as already in use. Has anyone else gone through this
process?
