Thanks Ronni,
No, the iMac I used for a donor of iPhoto also runs with Tiger and has
never been leopardized. I used a USB stick
to transfer it. Prior to that I tried to re-install iLife 04 and
although the installation went through all the
normal steps and was apparently successful I could not find iPhoto or
iLife 04 not even searching in spotlight.
The iBook only shows one 9.3GB iPhoto library in home / pictures. I
can try to find the original installation
disc that came with the iBook - if iPhoto is on that one and install
iPhoto from that disc. Should I do that ?
Photo libraries from other iPhoto versions have never been installed
on the iBook - only the updates that
come via software update from Apple were installed.
Thanks,
Walter

Hi Walter,
A couple of things are worrying me here.
1. Had you moved, or copied, any iPhoto Library folders from another
(newer) version of iPhoto?
2. When you say you "Have trashed iPhoto from the applications and
installed iPhoto again (Version 2.0.1) from another G4 iMac".
How did you install iPhoto 2.0.1 from the G4 iMac?
Looking back through the WAMUG Archives, doesn't your G4 iMac have
Leopard installed on it? iPhoto 2.0.1 is not compatible with Leopard.
iPhoto 2 is different to newer versions of iPhoto and needs to be
installed from the Restore Disks that came with your computer.
You can't just drag the Application from another computer.
3. In your Home folder > Pictures, do you have only ONE iPhoto
Library folder?
Cheers,
Ronni

Hi Ronni,
Have done the rebuild. At the end of that process the same alert
came up again before I tried to
open iPhoto. Then, I tried to start iPhoto and the "You can't
open" alert comes up preventimg iPhoto
from starting.
Thanks,
Walter

Hi guys,
I can't open iPhoto.
When I try to open iPhoto it responds :
"You can't open your current photo library using this version of
iPhoto"
It suggests that I have made changes to the Ph/library and wants
me to upgrade to a newer version.
I have only ever changed the version when an upgrade was released
and was downloaded from the
Apple site and then - as far as I can remember - the photo
library was also upgraded.
Have trashed iPhoto from the applications and installed iPhoto
again (Version 2.0.1) from another G4 iMac but
that has not changed anything.
Have looked at the download site for newer versions, but can only
see versions for Leopard.
I'm using an iBook G4 + OS 10.4.11
Looking for some useful hints.
Hi Walter,
If you haven't copied any iPhoto Library folders from another
(newer) version, then your photo library likely has some minor
corruption.
1. Rebuild the photo database by starting iPhoto while holding the
shift+option keys.
2. Don't release them until you're prompted to confirm the intent
to rebuild.
3. Click "Yes", then click "Save".
Let us know if that corrects your problem please.
Cheers,
Ronni
