Thanks Paul Yes they have enabled web access.
I now have 10.6.2 working smoothly it seems so one more back up and then I will try to set up Mail to access Exchange. I think I can live with having to check the calendar manually (not sure about my colleagues). I will check out Outlook Web Access, thanks for the suggestion.
