Sorry Ronni, I thought I had it but not so. So back to your suggestion; TimeMachine has been running since Snow Leopard and 10.6.3 was released. I was trying to get a version back from earlier today due to a stupid mistake of copying 1 picture without realising that every picture in the library was selected and it had made hundreds of copies before I realised what was happening.
I will try the Titanium solution next thanks.
