I'm restricted by my contract with Optus for another couple of months. If I want it sooner, it'll cost me $400. In August it'll be $12 x 3months. Hopefully will be in plentyful supply by then. The features look great (I got a brief look before leaving for work).

Trouble is, the iPhone 4 probably won't be available here in Oz until sometime in July, assuming Australia is one of the favoured 18:

Pre-orders begin June 15, with phones shipping June 24 in the US France, Germany, UK, Japan. It will roll out to 18 more countries in July, 24 more in August, and 40 more in September.

802.11n wifi is a nice addition as is the bigger battery giving:
- 7hrs 3G talktime vs 5hrs on the old 3GS,
- 6 hours of 3G browsing
- 10 hours of WiFi browsing
- 40 hours of music
- 10 hours of video playback
- 300 hours of standby time.

The 5 megapixel camera with LED light/flash will be a nice improvement for both photos and video (and for searching for your keys in the dark). :-)

hurrah!

I read the Apple site this morning and am desparate to get one as soon as I can due to a malfunction in my 3G one. However, I just checked the Apple site again - .com and .com.au and it's back to headlining the iPad. Click on iPhone and it's the 3GS. Please tell me I didn't imagine what I saw earlier.

Good to see the new iPhone 4 supports the 900Mhz 3G frequency that Optus uses outside the metro area, so finally those of us on this cheaper network will be able to get full 3G speeds outside of town.

hurrah!

Facetime video calling looks pretty cool as well, though you have to be on wifi for it to work.
