Using iPhone Overseas

Dear WAMUGers Please can you help? I have applied to Telstra  have International Roaming switched on. I can see that the call rates are maybe 3 or 4 times higher. What about data? Is data just data - doesn't matter where you are? I have a $10 data pack which i NEVER get close to using up. Will it be the same in Malaysia? Or will that be 4 times as expensive?
