Having said that Peter, Rhonda will testify to issues with migrating data from one Mac to another.

When I got my latest Intel iMac fro work, I let the Apple show do it using the the function when you turn on a new iMac for the first when it ask if you want to import data from another Mac.

I imported a few problems and am still trying to sort them out.

I'm about to upgrade from my home PowerPC G5 to an Intel iMac. Will have a good look at Rhonda's suggestion on her web site.

In the same vein (the jugular), at work we have almost successfully migrated data from the backup of the Windows server that 'died' to a Intel iMac. We had lots of fun with a few terse words and pulling of hair.

Thank goodness I'm now all Mac and plan to look carefully at a Macmini Snow Leopard Server. The job for this week is to read the first three documents on the server.

Last night I helped a mate set up his new PC running Windows 7, their all-singing all-dancing OS. Funny I thought. it looks awfully like OS10, but without Apple's stylish subtlety. A lot of things have been moved around compared with Windoze XP, but I was prepared to search for a couple of things.

But when to came to transferring his old data from the XP laptop to the new Win7 desktop I quickly found myself kneeling down praying for divine intervention and begging God to destroy all traces of Bill Gates and Microsoft and, with a quick miracle, give everyone on Earth a Mac.

I looked at the Help section for Win7 and when I saw something like "LGST protocol layer" in the Networking section, I admitted defeat.

So now I am again very glad that I have a Mac, and my mate is going to call an IT expert.

Be kind and gentle to your Mac - they preserve your sanity.
