Good afternoon all

I'm hoping someone can help. My MacBook screen has frozen and does not respond
to anything I try and do.

I've shut down and started up again several times to no avail. Initially
everything seems OK, normal screen, insert password,
then the iCal window appears (set up to appear at log in). I had thought
booting from the external drive might work but
because the iCal window fills the screen I can't see the exterior drive icon
(assuming it is there somewhere)

I know there is some way of starting up in safe mode but not sure how to do
that or even if that might work.

Fortunately I have a MacMini as part of my EyeTV set up so that's what I am
using to post this call for help. Never thought I
would need to use it for this purpose. I don't have Mail set up on the Mini so
am using webmail.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Regards

Laura
