Hi Muggers, I just wanted to wax lyrical about the "Lyrica" application available from the Map App Store. (I have no association with the company and do not benefit from their sales.)
I was alterted to the existence of Lyrica when Peter Hinchliffe demoed it at the WAMUG meeting this past Tuesday. (Thanks Peter!) I was willing to part with the meagre $2.50 for the ability to display the lyrics of a song in a window on my Mac when the song is played in iTunes. What I did not realize is that Lyrica has a feature that makes it far more valuable. Namely, one can ask Lyrica, to download the lyrics for each song in an iTunes Playlist, and embed the lyrics right in the song. When one then syncs these songs with an iPad (or iPhone), the lyrics are transferred to the iPad inside the song, and can be displayed on the screen of the iPad as the song plays! I proceeded to embed lyrics in every song in my iTunes collection (1,400 songs) and got, by my estimation, a 90% rate of found lyrics. My simple geek mind takes great satisfaction in easy to use, useful applications like this.
