I have had a similar behaviour with my wife's MacBook Core2Duo 2.0 on 10.6.8. In our case it seems to be related to location, at a fair distance (in another nearby building) from the Airport Extreme or with walls in the way. A small shift of position seems to restore the connection. Severin Crisp
